How to enable NSFW on Reddit?

Reddit is the front page of the internet, and you can find literally everything on Reddit. You can’t see or search vulgar Reddit content if your account has NSFW disabled. Even if the NSFW is enabled, Reddit blurs the thumbnail so it doesn’t unnecessarily attract you. You can enable NSFW on Reddit on Android, iPhone, or the web. 

Enable NSFW on Reddit Android App

1. Open the Reddit app on your smartphone and log in to your account. 
2. Tap on your profile picture at the top right corner. 
3. Tap on Settings from the menu.
4. Enable NSFW content by toggling on Show NSFW content (I’m over 18).
5. Below it, toggle off Blur NSFW Images. 

Enable Reddit NSFW on iPhone

Reddit iPhone app has a different approach than the Android app. You can enable tNSFW without opening the app. Here’s how:

1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down and find Reddit, then tap on it.
3. Under Reddit settings, enable Show NSFW Content (18+) and disable Blur NSFW Images. 

Enable NSFW Content on Reddit Web Version

1. Open a web browser on your computer and visit the Reddit website.
2. Click on your profile picture at the top right corner and go to User Settings. 
3. Switch to the Feed Settings tab and toggle on Adult Content. Also, make sure to toggle off Safe Browsing Mode so you don’t see blurred images on your feed. 

There are some disadvantages of NSFW tags on the Reddit mobile app. If a post has a video tagged NSFW, Reddit will automatically block the sound on the mobile app. There’s no option to turn on sound on the official app.

That’s why some third-party Reddit client apps on Play Store and App Store allow you to play NSFW videos with sound. 

NSFW vs. Safe Browsing Mode

Allowing NSFW content means you can search for any NSFW subreddit, view any NSFW post or submit your own. But Safe Browsing Mode means Reddit will blur the thumbnail unless you open the post.

Enabling NSFW won’t disable safe browsing mode. You must manually stop Reddit from blurring NSFW images on your feed. 

Should you enable NSFW in the first place?

It depends on what content you’re looking for. Reddit is where everyone can express themselves. There are many sub-redddit where people talk about taboo topics and sensitive issues. If you’re looking to explore them, go on enable NSFW.

But NSFW content can put you in awkward situations. That’s why Reddit blurs NSFW images by default. So, be responsible for exploring NSFW content on Reddit.
